As you know, perpetual bliss simply is not possible. We’re be such a bunch of spoiled brats if it were (Don’t you think?) What is possible, and highly profitable, is to always look for the good side (or admit a benefits exists even if you can’t presently see it.) It’s also good to limit your time spent feeling discouraged and down. It’s not always easy, but when you plant a garden, you’re going to have to deal with weeds…..that’s all there is to it. Whether you give up on your garden because of the weeds or simply yank them out (or my preferred option, pay your kids to do it imperfectly,) weeds must go or they take over. The truth is, life is manifique, and the downturns are what make the upsides so joyous. Like failure being part of success.
Today I went to swim during "lap" time. When I got there, the pool had only 1 lap open and several people were already swimming in it. ;-(
Today, of course, is a day when I really needed and wanted to swim for stress management.
I was annoyed.
I went to the next item on my list, which was to buy groceries. I went specifically to Publix because of their flank steak/spinach/cheese roll-ups that are so easy to prepare and are delicious. My mom introduced me to these and they’re great for busy precocious grown ups who had people to feed.
Publix was out of flank steak roll-ups.
I was annoyed.
Nevertheless, i kept a stiff upper lip, I kept calm and carried on. While spending an inordinate amount of time selecting ice cream flavors for the family, something caught my eye.
i saw this tres chic mom with her middle-school-aged boy. I could tell she was drawing on her patience reserves. Her handsome son had some sort of mental disability. He was acting up, just a teeny tiny bit.
Do you think that put my not-being-able-to-swim-in-peace drama in a different context?
Do you think the mother of the 2 girls in this picture is unbelievably fortunate?
Life if manifique. What your latest annoyance-turn-around story?
