5 Ways to Channel A Bit of Miranda Priestly
OK. So Miranda Priestly is a you-know-what. But isn't she awesome? Wouldn't you love to have people "gird their loins" before you walk into the room? Isn't her fashion knowledge amazing? Her personal style flawless? I know I'm drooling onto this, post, but Miranda Priestly rocks. (BTW, I'm assuming you, too, love both Meryl Streep and The Devil Wears Prada.) So why does a super nice and sweet person like me admire a you-know-what like Miranda Priestly?
Here's what awesome about Miranda Priestly: She's chic, she's brilliant, she's clear, she works hard and she's hyper-confident!
You definitely want to make sure these qualities show up in your own self -- reflecting your unique piece of the puzzle:
1. Be chic.
It's been so freeing to learn that you don't have to spend boatloads of money to be chic. You simply must pay attention to what you're doing, chic is in the details!
Classic clothing + wow accessories = chic.
Think about it. If you're wearing classic from head to toe, no sparkle, it's going to look a bit boring, if not shabby. If you dress wowza all the way through, you're likely to look like a clown, or worse, a Britney or Lindsay wanna-be. Mixing your own favorite classics with high style always works well.
2. Be brilliant.
I know you've already got this so all i'll say is don't play like you're stupid, unless it's part of your take-no-prisoners strategy in a particular situation. You certainly don't want to make a habit of playing small.
3. Be clear.
Know what you want and how you like to live. As MP would say, "That's all."
4. Work hard....and take damned good care of yourself.
OMG, I can't believe I let out a swear word. I know you work hard, like the devil, you're doing that already. Make sure you're offsetting that with sleep, nutrition, sleep, water, personal care services, and of course, saying "no." I put this one on the list simply because MP isn't some heiress or trophy wife who's had riches delivered to her on a platter (not that we wouldn't mind that.)
5. Be hyper-confident.
You know that confidence is money in the bank. Things that damage your confidence are the fears of hurting people's feelings, of not being good enough, of making a mistake, of not being approved by certain people.
Decide to be confident and you will be. The thing is, it's a daily commitment.
