"Many people think they want things, but they don’t really have the strength, the discipline. They are weak. I believe that you get what you want if you want it badly enough." ~Sophia Loren
Miranda and I just had a blast together on our trip to Paris and London. It was the sort of trip I always thought I was entitled to experience. But the truth is that feeling like you’re entitled is annoying while making things happen energizes you and empowers those around you.
Entitlement is expecting other people to give you what you deserve. Like husbands, parents and bosses. Empowerment is becoming the person you were meant to be.
At my first mastermind retreat with Christine Kane a few years ago, we were discussing our dreams and desires and I brought up my longtime lust for travel. But I was talking about it in terms of when I am super rich, then I can travel to Europe. Christine just gave me this look like she does, and let me know that of course, if you really want to, you can travel whenever you want to. You don’t have to wait, you simply find the way to make it happen.
The fact that she had traveled abroad during her salad days made it awkward for me to argue with her.
And she was totally right.
If you want something badly enough, then you’re willing to do what most people are not willing to do: you simply find the way. Problems are here for us to solve and the desires of our heart are here to guide us. Entitlement is not only annoying; it’s a waste.
What are you doing to make things happen in your life?
