The truth about transitions, even the best kind, is they’re messy.
You know what I mean, transitions include the times your child starts kindergarten, you start a new job, get married, become a parent, get a promotion, move or invest in a new web site. You greet the change with enthusiasm, and then feel surprised when it feels awkward. (Note: I feel awkward writing on this new super blog and I can’t find spell check!) What you discover each time you make such a change, is that there is no there there. What you have to work with and enjoy is right now.
Transitions are like little mirrors of your life.
Transitions show us how we deal with the unexpected. We always enter into a transition with certain expectations, and normally events unfold with consequences and trappings we did not anticipate. Enter frustration. The life lesson is that successful transitions hinge on our flexibility, yet as my friend Sally says, I don’t want to be flexible. Of course, we just want things to be our way. Not much to ask.
Transitions represent another life paradox: the power of our intention to live a certain way with the flexibility to allow that intention show up in a way, or with certain consequences we did not expect. I have had a plan for setting up the new Mixonian for several months; then out of the blue, I ran into Bob, who offered me a simpler way to do it. However, I did not expect to have to learn so much with this new super blog. This is my 3rd blog format and I’m not keen on learning yet another way of posting articles. Yet getting this more professional web site has been a huge, humongous goal for me, a dream come true.
Speaking of the New Mixonian, here are a few things you want to know about it. I hope you like the new look and I would love to hear what you think.
1. The new URL (or address) is http://mixonian.com. It’s shorter and http://lauramixon.com also works. Note: subscribers to the old blog will want to subscribe to this new one — see the button on the right column.
2. Soon it will be much easier to sign up to get my free Report on Presentation Mistakes and How They Slyly Sabotage You, which has also been upgraded. Registering for my new e-course True Wealth Creation for Women Only is already easier. See the tab at the top; soon that will turn into a button on the side bar.
3. There are links to Twitter, Facebook and RSS at the top. RSS is short for "Really Simple Syndication" and is just another way of subscribing to this blog.
This new site is the second upgrade in the last 6 months. It is testament to the power of setting a clear intention. When I started writing Mixonian over 2 years ago, I had no idea what I was doing, or exactly how things would unfold, yet I was clear that I wanted to provide extreme encouragement to my friends all over the planet. Seeing this new Mixonian shows that whatever it is the transition you seek, it can become your reality….with a few awkward moments, of course.
