Want to change something in your life? What conversation can start that process? Think of it as a catalyst conversation.
Everything you want comes to you through people. That means you need to communicate well with the right people, whether you know them or not. You may know the people you need to talk to, or not.
But ultimately conversations bring you introductions to people, solutions to problems and clients who sign the deal.
Now that Q4 of 2018 is here, let’s finish strong with a catalyst conversation.
Sample Catalyst Conversations
You want a raise or promotion, but someone in your company, or maybe several people, have to agree and green-light this. Most likely, they will not come up with the idea until you make a convincing case to comply with your request.
You want to work from home one day a week, or month (or any sort of schedule flexibility). Convincing conversations are needed.
You want more clients. You need conversations with people who aren’t clients or are past clients, to bring them on board again.
You want to raise money for your favorite cause means you need many conversations asking for help.
You want to be more known in your industry. That happens through conversations with people in your industry in OTHER companies.
You want to be a more interesting (or healthier) person. Start with a sincere conversation with yourself to work out your plan.
You want to publish your book. Guess what? You find your agent through conversations (networking actually).
Note that each of these goals will probably require more than one conversation.
Emotional Risk and You
What are the common denominators? Relationships and Emotional Risk. Building relationships is always positive.
Moving forward, achieving significant goals always involves taking an emotional risk. Emotional Risk is a fancy way of saying that it might not work quite as you had planned. Someone might even tell you “no”.
This can be scary. Which is why so many people never ask for what they want. But you will be okay simply because you took a risk. In fact, your confidence will skyrocket after you start having more catalyst conversations.
